First of all...Congratulations on being the first recipient of the book "Fan for the first time!
Fan For the first time by sonnal pardiwala book on Faisal Khan
Fan For The First Time book on Faisal Khan by Sonnal Pardiwala

Me: How did you come to know about this book?

Sushma Rane: I came to know about this book from Faisal’s FaceBook and Google+ accounts. On 3rd January he stated in his post about Sonnal Pardiwala who wrote a book on him…Fan For The First Time...amazing name....Being Faisal’s fan , I keep track of his every account...this is how I came to know.

Me: You would be really glad to have made the decision, but what made you buy this seemingly expensive but exclusive book?

Sushma Rane: Obviously one and only reason for buying this book was Faisal Khan... Faisu, Sonnal’s little man...the book was on Faisu.....anything for him!

When I learnt that somebody has written a book on him…I was extremely happy....Faisal actually deserves this ...he is too good in whatever he does. He has immortalised the character of Maharana Pratap...so there was a thought of buying it somewhere in my mind.

Initially actually I was just thinking of buying it someday not immediately but in his next post on 8th January, he asked his fans, Did you read the book? and all answers were negative…even I answered not yet...quiet disappointing answer...also on Sonnal’s Twitter handle she mentioned that Faisal asked her, Who will read book on me?

I wanted to make him happy, I wanted him to know how much his fans love him then I made my mind to book the order immediately. And very next day I booked my copy of FFTFT. It is love for Faisu that made me buy this book exclusive book on exclusive sweet little kid.

I don't think it’s expensive. It worths the cost. Faisu deserves this.

Me: How long was the waiting period and what were the feelings? Curiosity, excitement, anxiety...please elaborate.

Sushma Rane: After booking for FFTFT, I was so excited can't express the feeling. I booked it on 9th Jan and then the waiting started...till 14th I just held myself...and then became anxious. O God how long I have to wait...? Very anxious...on 15th....I was going mad!

.

Me: What was your first reaction when you received the book?

Sushma Rane: I had given my office address. Security personnel called up to say my parcel has arrived, immediately understood it’s my FFTFT. I was actually speechless…I had no words...my heart beats increased...I could have got it by sending peon but ran myself to collect it. I held it in my hand and said yeah...I got it. Book on my Faisu! I was so happy that day…

Me: What was your reaction looking at the cover page?

Sushma Rane: Of courses all smiles on my face. Cover page is so positive.....the rising sun.....appropriate for Faisal’s book.....when I unwrapped the outer cover...it’s mine now…the book is mine. I'm bonded to Faisal by this book. Very very happy....excited. ..I was literally shaking out of excitement. Only Faisal’s true fan will understand my condition. Right Sonnal?

Me: Describe how you began reading the book...how the excitement of receiving it calmed down and you began enjoying the book...

Sushma Rane: When I opened the book, I just couldn't read anything......I was just turning the pages.... so excited....to look at those lovely pictures of Faisu in different moods...killing…all the pictures were. I was so excited couldn't read the book. I bunk my office next day, just to read the book. And I entered into a loveland...Omg....Sonnal just loved you...for such a beautiful writing...so passionately written. Then couldn't keep it down. Read it in just one go. But I am not yet calmed down....still feel the same excitement when I open it. Reading it again! I will enjoy it throughout my life time.

Me: Which part of the book did you enjoy the most? Quote one paragraph or scene you enjoyed the most and feel that has been immortalized as much as it has been immortalized in the serial.

Sushma Rane: I liked whole book. But the part I enjoyed the most is from chapter Leaf Shedding and Flowering Season of Love Land...when Ajabde goes to fetch Kunwar Pratap. The dialogues between them and the lovely pictures of Faisu! Oh God what expressions…page number 86, 87, 88.

The scene which is immortalised as in the serial is confession scene from the chapter Of Confusion and Confessions....the paragraph from “Phool woh nahi.......Hume aap ache lage he aaj se nahin kayin mahinose...”
THE BEST SCENE...it touched my heart. I cried for Praja…Sonnal you have heightened these dialogues to a different level. What descriptions! Luv u for that! Luv Praja.
Many such paragraphs and lines I died for ...... “Dekhiye Hume log kehte hai ki hum shurveer he...humne bahut kirti arjit ki he...ghunghor puja me aapne swayam dekha tha sari rajkunwariaan lad rahi thi humse vivah karne ke liye par humne kisi ko aankh bhar nahin dekha kyunki hume aap achi lagti he Ajabde”....and then u said “Oh Ajabde why did your heart not melt at his tearing plea…?” I really died as you said.....

And the scene of training Phool. ................. Why are you aloof from me....and further I died.....

So many paragraphs, dialogues....u have decorated them with your words. Sonnal thank you. I feel proud to own this book.

Me: Which is your favourite chapter and why?

Sushma Rane: Actually I can't name one...whole book is my favourite. But if you insist....Of Confusion and Confessions is my favourite......its full of emotions....this chapter has the content for which each Praja fans waited so long ...the confession scene....page no 106...suna aapne rani ma.......he gives clue unknowingly to his Ranimaa that he is hooked...lovely ...then the Ghanghaur puja...how Ajab fulfils the custom....then Pratap’s tough skill on horse...Ajab watching it....then Phool’s training scene...confession scene and the great sacrifice of Praja for Matrubhumi....and hume nahi lagta ke phir kabhi hum .......apni...aatma kisi vyakti me itni spasht dekh payenge....true Kunwar Pratap…this chapter is a master piece. And the masterpiece chapter itself is a great experience.....what to say no words....

Me: How did you feel when the author herself acknowledged you on various social networking sites and also when Faisal Khan himself acknowledged you on Instagram and twitter and also thanked you?

Sushma Rane: Of course I was damn happy, when Sonnal acknowledged me on Twitter, Facebook and Insta. I am grateful to her for that. I was very happy that this girl put forth ....what all Faisu’s fan have in their heart...I'll always be grateful to Sonnal for writing such a lovely book on Faisal.

Faisal...

I died. He thanked me on all social sites...actually I should be thanking him for bringing such lovely moments, happiness in our life, he deserves all the love, honours, awards he's getting. When he acknowledged me I was thrilled...and so happy....everybody could see it on my face...thank u Faisal. Love you a lot.

Me: How does it feel to be the first recipient of a one of its kind book?

Sushma Rane: Actually I was shocked when I learnt, I was first recipient. Now I feel proud that I'm the first one to make Faisu happy (of course not as much Sonnal made him happy). At least to some extent! I feel great to be first recipient as Faisu is very special for me...so the book is very special.....and Sonnal, the writer is also very special for me...we are bonded through this book. So very very special feeling of being first recipient of book on Faisu!!!

Me: What would you like to say to the other countless fans of Faisal Khan with regards to this book?

Sushma Rane: Do read this book. It’s a treasure. If you are a real fan of Faisal Khan must read this book! You will get to meet your Faisal everyday...anytime you want...it’s very very special book for every fan of his. It will be a very precious belonging of yours, if you own it. I'm very happy to own it.
Spread the happiness be a part of the chain..Sonnal…Faisal..Sushma..Pallavi…
This is all about the love between Faisal and his fans...so I'll say buy the book!

Finding Five Stars!

                              Finding Five Stars!

Finding fanny!!!

What do you expect before the interval,(which is usually the first 1 hour and thirty minutes) of a typical BOLLYWOOD film?

Ok, the hero and heroine fall in love. Good, you are a one star BOLLYWOOD buff!
Second, you expect the entry of the villain just 5 minutes before the interval. Very good, you’ve watched a good amount of intelligence draining films!
Third, you’ve heard or rather tolerated three songs-a party song for the nature of the hero’s character, a song where he is wooing the girl and finally where both fall in love. This leaves two more after you relieve yourself in the interval! A sad one and the last when finally they get married after what seems to be a 10,000 years of Chinese torture!
You expected this, I’m impressed. (Just hoping you expected and not accepted!!!) Three stars to you…And half more to tolerate the crap!
Lastly, you might expect the protagonist of the film in a depressed state of mind…and a crying heroine…and a laughing villain, no need to mention!  This is a complementary, supplementary or whatever package the director offers. If you anticipated this, I give you four stars…

But, can you imagine a Bollywood film, to tell a story that bring a smile to your face, gives a meaning to the story, to your day. Yes? Okay shut up you’ve already seen Finding Fanny!
Shake your Bootiya on the floor

And truly, with a run time of 1 hour and 46 minutes, this is worth a watch…for Homi Adajania making a sheer master piece…for Ferdie (Naseeruddin Shah who plays his role of an eccentric and the Casanova of The Konkan, with the same conviction as he always does)…for Angie (Deepika Padukone who lights up the screen with her presence)…for Mai or Rosy (Dimple Kapadia who with her quirky dialogues and wittiness clarifies why she is an integral part of all three homi adajania films)…for Savio(who plays the arrogant mechanic of Pocoli and the lover of Angie! And to be the driver who willingly drove into a mental state!!!)…Pankaj Kapoor (the passionate lover of Miss rosy and of his own art! He’s the most elegant flirt, I’d say)…for Rabo(Ranveer singh’s short-lived performance-being in love with love with himself as he always is!!!)…finally, for Miss, no, Mrs., no the late Stephanie Fernandes without whom this wouldn’t have been possible…
This film depicts all different forms of love-and different meanings for each one. Each one has dedicated himself/herself to their respective roles! Even the boy who shows “the finger” to Savio!!!

I just hope that Homi Adajania keeps making chef-d'oeuvre…

Homi Adajania

And what the heck are you doing? By now you should have been shaking your BOOTIYA on BookMyShow!!!

Magnificent Mary, Magnificent movie...

              Magnificent Mary, Magnificent Movie...

Nearly 2 and a half billion of citizens in India! 650 million women! The same number of men! But only one Mary Kom! At the age of 31, this lady already has written an autobiography, has won the 3rd highest civilian award and has a movie released and already successful within a span of two days.
Some at this stage are yet to stabilize their career, some yet to complete their academics and many yet thinking of what they want from life. The reason why there is just one Mary Kom is because she crossed the line. ??? This is another must watch video.
Yes she did. It doesn’t have her mention but has a connection with her life. Because this is what she did-crossed the line! She committed her life to boxing. She focused. She dedicated her life to it. She did not get pulled down by any relationships, credit to her hubby-Onler. Wait a minute, should anyone be pulled down by relationships?
     Also read:Relationship Circle
She wasn’t deterred due to gender bias. She didn’t get discouraged by the many many obstacles that lay in her path to what she wanted to achieve-her goal.
Back to the film:
It is a beautifully directed 120 minute film on Mary Kom. This film has Priyanka Chopra gotten into the shoes of Mary Kom, playing…enacting…no living the life of this living legend- Mary Kom.
Repeating the name is incorrect literature, notwithstanding what it stands for-Her achievements, dedication and commitment.
It is directed in the most subtle manner, conveying more speaking less. No over dramatized scenes. No unnecessary dialogs, no stupid songs for any sort of cinematic relief. The story is told in the most refined manner!
There is no section, in this film where there is a halt where you feel nothing is happening (except the interval! Too much happens in the first one hour which leaves you with high expectations from the next) It is a quick paced film.
Yet, justice has been done to each aspect of Her life- from being an ambitious teenager who is stubborn but dedicated to her dream...shown in just one song: Ziddi Dil…
Abhi tak toh fighter hain! Par tum sikhaayega toh
boxer  bhi ban jaayenga!!!

…With Coach Sir finally giving into this stubborn girl. “Tu bahut ziddi hain.”

When asked to select between her father, and Boxing without any long drawn scene full of typical Filmi dialogs, she tells that nothing is going to stop her from becoming a boxer!!!
Just a simple “Boxing!!!”. Now you would expect her to pack her bag and run away from her home. But no!!!
Now, if I tell you the entire story of this film on the very third day of its release, then I am being unfair to the producers who have invested in a masterpiece.
From a teenager she reaches that stage when she falls in love. No, neither in the rain nor in her saheli's sagaai!  But she has found a really better and more caring husband then any of those who fell in love on the tunes of Palat or Saturday Saturday.
And yes, that moment when she wins her first world championship-that happiness that thrill that WOW I’ve done it kind of feeling” and her father... Although sad and upset at the beginning is now proud and smiling. He looks into her eyes that appear to be looking at her through the television. There is this telepathic communication, though, a distance of hundreds of kilometers lies between them.
Next, she moves on to say YES to Onler, who proposed by her, at a Pani puri stall, just before the final. Coach Sir however, is unhappy, he feels it shall destroy Mary’s career. She’d be bound by relationships, children and customs.
Of course, it is out of concern for his favorite student (most probably) .He doesn’t give in easily-as stubborn as his pupil.
Later, Mary becomes pregnant. This is the phase where she begins missing boxing. Here, I admired the way her withdrawal symptoms were portrayed (now, I prefer keeping this a secret!).
Throughout her delivery, she expectantly wants to know if she will be able to do boxing again, she regrets this fact! No not a fact…!!!
Because her will, determination and support from her hubby dear helps her to give a comeback.
She spends quite a long time in nurturing her twins- she (PC) plays the role of a mother with conviction. But does it mean she is done? After becoming the third time boxing world championship, she gets married, gives birth to children; so, her career is over?
This scene where she is sitting in a bus opposite a man talking to his daughter: “If you study, you see this aunty here (pointing at MaryKom, PC whatever, by this point you already begin believing that Priyanka is indeed Mary Kom). She will give you Mary Kom’s autograph!!!
Here a quick insight has been given as to how quickly people forget. How short lived is the public’s memory. Even a woman, who achieved a feat that no one else possibly could, she is neglected, forgotten and no more respected. All the pomp, show, celebration, recognition only till she is in the eye of the people!
However, she goes forth and fights the national level boxing round. Here, she loses to a junior. An official to be blamed for this! He had a grudge against Mary because she had got mad at this guy earlier.
“India mera dharm hain!!!”
She knows she has won the game. She knows that she has hit her more number of times. She knows she ought to win. She knows they aren’t letting her win because she is from Manipur. But she knows she has won for INDIA! But why isn’t there any justice? All this anger is shown in a scene- full of rage and fury. “India mera dharm hain!!!”

From here begins a story where she goes back to her coach and trains to become the boxer she was. She has to build up stamina. Remember and recollect all that she requires. But for this she needs her coach sir. As she says,”Apke bina hum boxing kar sakta hain, jeet nahi sakta!”
Coach Sir prepares Mary to now get ready to fight all odds. She has to begin from scratch, but one thing is in her favor- her will.
Next, she goes back into her “Dus by Dus ka duniya”, the boxing ring. She reaches the final. Here, she has to face the ruthless Sasha, who Mary defeated to win her first Gold in the world championship. But before this she finally words her feelings for the abusive official(the one that she threw the chair on):

Kisiko itna bhi mat darao ki darr hi nikal jaye!!!

The news of her child Nainai, having a hole in his heart had been kept a secret to avoid it to hinder in her training. But when it is disclosed to her, she breaks down. The heart of a mother sinks with grief, fear and helplessness.
The first two rounds of the finals see Mary being punched and whacked, bleeding….but this is not as pain inducing and grievous as is the situation of Mary at the moment. The next five minutes are…cannot be described with words. Heart breaking certain moments…where your heart screams “Fight Mary fight! And then it says wake Nainai, breathe!!! Although, you have researched wiki and know that nothing’s going to happen to Nainai, you are broken along with everyone else when the heart pulse reads 0_________________
And when Nainai gets another life, Mary’s heart says, “Everything’s good with your child”, she fights back and in a span of seconds knocks down her opponent.

She is given the title “Magnificient Mary”.

Then, the coach assisting him (not coach sir!) assures her with thumbs up that everything is okay.

She looks at the national flag with pride. She knows she has made everyone proud. She has made Tonpa(her father) proud. She has made Akham (her mother) proud. She has made Coach Sir proud. She has made her village proud. She has made her tribe-Kom proud. She has made Onler (her husband) proud. She has made that guy who had a grudge proud. She has made the gunda of her town proud. She has made her children proud! She has made her country proud of her! She has made INDIA proud!!!

Jai Hind!!!
But most importantly, she doesn't regret crossing the line...!!! she is proud of herself!  She is Proud of Mangte Chungneijang Mary Kom!!!

                          punched in by:                                                        Shahen Pardiwala
